Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about SableCAD.
General
SableCAD is a professional browser-based CAD platform for 2D sketching and 3D modeling. It runs entirely in your web browser — no installation, no plugins, no downloads required.
Yes. You can create a free account and start designing immediately. There is no credit card required, no trial period, and no feature gates.
SableCAD works on any modern browser: Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft Edge, and Safari (macOS 15+). We recommend Chrome or Edge for the best rendering performance.
No. SableCAD runs entirely in your browser. There is nothing to download, install, configure, or update. Open the URL and start designing.
SableCAD supports touch input (pan, pinch-to-zoom) and can be used on tablets. However, the full feature set is designed for desktop browsers with keyboard and mouse.
Features & Tools
SableCAD currently supports STL import and export (both binary and ASCII). Projects are stored as JSON and auto-saved to the cloud. DXF support is planned for a future release.
Yes. You can extrude and revolve 2D sketches into 3D solid models. The 3D viewport provides real-time shaded rendering with orbit camera and a ViewCube for quick orientation.
SableCAD includes lines, polylines, circles (6 modes), arcs (11 modes), rectangles (3 modes), polygons (3 modes), ellipses, splines, single-line and multi-line text, hatch patterns, and points. Modification tools include move, copy, rotate, scale, mirror, offset, trim, extend, fillet, chamfer, and arrays.
Yes. SableCAD features an AutoCAD-style command line at the bottom of the editor. You can type coordinates (x,y), relative coordinates (@x,y), polar input (@dist<angle), or tool names (line, circle, extrude, etc.).
SableCAD includes 9 object snap types (endpoint, midpoint, center, quadrant, intersection, extension, perpendicular, tangent, nearest) with individually toggleable controls. Three grid types (square, isometric, polar) with configurable spacing. Polar tracking and ortho mode for angular constraints.
Currently SableCAD requires an internet connection to save and load projects. Offline support with local storage is on our roadmap.
